How to photograph a car for sale
When selling your car, you'll want to present it in the best possible light to attract potential buyers and get the best price. One of the best ways to do that, is by sharing quality photos.
Below are some tips to help you get the best shots:
Clean the car, inside and out
- Make sure your car is free of dirt, debris, or clutter. Clean the windows, mirrors, and wheels, and tidy up the interior
- Remove unnecessary items and/or rubbish inside or surrounding the car
- Don't forget to clean out the boot as well
Location matters
- Start by choosing a nice, clean background - preferably outdoors
- Avoid busy places where other vehicles, light poles, bins, graffiti, and other objects are in the background
- Objects in the background can distract the buyer and shift the focus away from your car
- Be aware of objects in the background that may reflect in your car's paintwork
Choose the right time of day
- Natural light is your friend when taking photos of your car
- Try to take photos when the light is soft, warm and consistent
- Direct sunlight can create too much contrast and your photos may look too dark with bright highlights, or too bright with no detail
- Avoid taking photos at night or undercover that can make your car hard to see clearly
Choose the right angles
- AutoFlip's guided camera mode helps you take great photos (mobile only)
- Make sure to get a variety of angles. Take photos of the front, back, sides, and interior. Make sure to get close-up shots of any unique features or details, like custom wheels or a sunroof
- Avoid taking photos of your car with other cars or objects in the background, as this can be distracting
